Djunah’s Donna Diane is ‘she who is powerful’ (Episode 823)

Djunah’s second album, “Femina Furens,” is brave. It’s raw. It’s cathartic. It’s gut wrenching. It’s fierce. It’s vulnerable. Most importantly, it’s great.

Donna Diane of Djunah jumped in the car outside Innjoy, in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, to talk about the new album. Much of the songwriting evolved from Donna’s “diagnosis and continuing recovery from complex post-traumatic stress disorder, or C-PTSD,” and she shares insight into that process.

Djunah is a force of nature, and this album is one of the most personal and powerful musical portraits you’ll hear all year.
