From Fat Nut to the Rolling Stones, Double Door has been one of Chicago’s premiere music venues.
In a city that’s arguably overpacked with live music venues, there are a few whose names stand above the list. Double Door’s one of them; the venue opened in Wicker Park in 1994 and quickly became one of the most essential live rooms in Chicago. It played host to bands large and small: How large? Rolling Stones large. How small? It supported Chicago’s independent music community from day one.
Double Door disappeared off the map in 2017 when it was evicted from its Wicker Park location. This story has a happy ending, though… Double Door is coming back. The new location is a stunning, classic old Chicago building in Uptown. And its owners, Sean Mulroney and Pete Bruce, are here to talk about rebuilding a building… and rebuilding a brand.
